Motorized Catamaran Racing
South Africa is a country with barely no winter, endless days of sunshine, dangerous rivers and huge surf breaks. In the early 80's motorized catamaran machines were created by local pioneers that had been searching for a sport that could test the extreme conditions of this vast country.
The original boats were developed from monohull ribs. Racing proved very unstable, and the shallow capabilities caused great control problems which were solved by the ingenious CAT design. This evolution took many hours and days design time and testing, but the results were fantastic. With these finely tuned boats progressing from rivers, to sea and finally battling South Africa's large Surf.
The boat technology has greatly improved, since these early days with the sport crossing many oceans worldwide with great levels of interest.
